Subtraction Tuesday!!!
These should be done in groups but are designed to be done without pen and paper. I have still done a print out if you want it to make it easy for groups to discuss the problems. Recording should be allowed when explaining back to class at the end.

How this builds on last weeks problems
Last week started with 12 - 4 = and the split of 2 then 2 to go down though the ten should have come easily. This week keeping going with the down though ten theme but looking to split to 2 and 3 and go down 2 to 10 and then down three more. Look for kids to be using their basic facts and tens facts.

Before giving them problem you may want to consider launching it with a discussion on the stages and what each stage is for subtraction.
