Some of the table attempts
Asking them to attempt the table when I knew they would struggle was deliberate. The whole class discussion at the end focused on jointly constructing one. This one was the best and really surprised me! We used this to start the model one.
This is the one we did as a class. The discussion then focused on finding patterns.
My prompting got them to focus on seeing patterns ACROSS rather than down. Also, seeing the pattern between the shape number and the other parts of the table is the most critical part because it helps answer the what is XX is the pattern type questions.
The other KEY part is making sure that the patterns link to the model. Eg the x2 LINKS to the added branches.
